Political Violence
1. Don't Be Hypocrites
Ever since the first attempted assassination of Donald Trump in Butler, PA, and since the killing of Charlie Kirk, I've seen a consistent theme coming from the mainstream left about how political violence is unacceptable under any and all circumstances. They denounce it at every turn. I understand why, but it's completely wrong and misguided.
In less than two months, America is going to celebrate the 250th anniversary of its independence on the fourth of July. Exactly how is this not celebrating political violence? Every single person who celebrates the fourth of July is celebrating political violence. We're celebrating the result of political violence which we agree with. The same exact thing goes for celebrating the fourteenth of July here in France - an independence gained through extreme political violence.
Exactly whom on The Bulark and in other similar places is ready to say that this kind of political violence was uncalled for and that it should not have ever happened? I don't think anyone in the mainstream on the left or centre, or even centre right, is going to take that position.
There are, therefore, acts of political violence, even killing in the thousands, which people are willing to accept. Saying that political violence is never justified is therefore simply not true. It's hypocrisy.
And I didn't even have to justify that statement by dredging up WWII.
